Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo

In 2010 former bridal designer Alfred Angelo teamed up with powerhouse Disney to create a unique collection of Disney wedding dresses inspired by renowned princesses. Brides were able to look like real princess on their big day by investing in a gown that was influenced by their favourite characters.

Alfred Angelo Bridal was founded by Alfred and his wife in 1933. Based in Florida, it was one of the largest bridal gown manufacturers in the world before liquidating in 2017 and closing its ‘Signature Stores’. Some retailers do still stock the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection so keep your eyes peeled!

The Disney wedding dresses collection was actually designed by Michael Shettel. Debuting at New York Bridal Week in 2016, the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings bridal collection really is a Disney fanatic’s dream come true.

Heavily inspired by the animated block-buster films, each gown is enchanting. The collection was made up of nine, very different dresses. Each one inspired by its own Disney princess. Available in ivory or white with a number of dazzling metallic accents including sparkling gold and shimmering silver, prospective brides were spoilt for choice.  

The Disney wedding dresses are inspired by all your favourites from the likes of Snow White and Arial to Tiana. Angelo combines “amazing design and charming storytelling with some Disney magic” to create a truly captivating collection.

The gowns all vary in style depending on the character they are inspired by, providing something for very bride and her preferences. Similarly they channel each princess’s personality for Disney wedding dresses that are all-encompassing.

Custom designed, the gowns were available in sizes zero through to 26. As a result they’re suitable for every woman, no matter her size or body shape. The collection allowed brides t to bring some Disney magic to their big day and live out most little girl’s dream.

Ariel

This romantic gown celebrates Ariel’s free spirit with re-embroidered lace and taffeta fabrics that move as gracefully as the ocean.

The dress features a figure-hugging bodice that flares out into an apt fish tail at the bottom which gracefully pools into a small train on the floor.

Touches of sea-inspired details such as pearl beading, subtle metallic accents, crystal beading and sequins add a splash of the unexpected.

The draped criss-cross bodice is extremely flattering as the layers of fabric synch in at the waist to give a real A-line silhouette. The sweetheart neckline is as romantic as ever, accented with sparkling crystal beading and rhinestones – a glamorous touch for (arguably) the ultimate princess.

Jasmine

Bold and unique, Jasmine’s gown features flowing, soft shimmer satin and a micro-ruched bodice under the chest.
