History

Home to one of the most photogenic series of cottages in the Cotswolds, Arlington Row, the humble village of Bibury has become an undying symbol of what country life used to be like in this part of the world.

The village's aesthetic qualities have attracted many visitors over the years, including the renowned Arts and Craft 'Movementist' William Morris, who declared it the most beautiful settlement in England! So too has the famous Arlington Row been used as a backdrop for films such as Stardust and Bridget Jones' Diary.

The site that the Swan Inn presently occupies has been home to an inn since records began, but the current building was constructed in the 18th century (with further more recent additions), and has been awarded a Grade II listing.

The Swan forms part of the Cotswolds Inns and Hotels Group, who own and manage several beautiful hotels and venues across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including The Hare and Hounds, The Bear of Rodborough, The Manor House Hotel and The Bay Tree Hotel.

Facilities

The Signet Suite

This is the hotel's principal function space, and can seat up to 110 guests for a ceremony and 100 for a formal reception. The room features an intricate series of ceiling cornices, along with many windows, giving it an airy feel with great views.

The Library

This intimate space is great for smaller ceremonies with up to 26 guests.

The Gallery

The hotel's renowned restaurant, this characterful and atmosphere-rich room can seat up to 50 guests for a ceremony, and 40 for a formal reception.

The Gardens

If you are intending to celebrate your civil marriage or partnership in one of the most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds, then you had better get the pictures to match the occasion! The Swan Hotel's gardens make for the perfect photo opportunity, and are accessible via a pretty little footbridge. These gardens are licensed for outdoor civil ceremonies, and are quite perfect for drinks receptions and games of croquet!

Catering

The in-house catering team at The Swan Hotel use only fresh, local and seasonal produce, and provide brides and grooms with a number of delicious recommended wedding menus. If these menus don't quite match what you have in mind, then the team would be more than willing to work with you to create the feast of your dreams.

The Swan Hotel features 22 individually and uniquely designed bedrooms, which all sport a charismatic and colourful décor - some of these rooms even come complete with a welcoming Swan Hotel teddy bear!
