The Grand Hotel is a late Victorian establishment that overlooks its own private beach, which can be accessed by steps down the cliff. It occupies a superb location above the seafront, a gentle promenade stroll from the town pier at Swanage and just under 3 miles from Studland Beach, a designated AONB, a stretch of the Dorset coastline on the peninsula known as the Isle of Purbeck.
It is indeed a romantic setting that radiates elegance and offers many facilities including 30 ensuite bedrooms, a range of double, twin and single rooms all accessible by the passenger lift that services all floors. There are first-class dining options at the Coast Restaurant and the Conservatory Bar and Lounge, where an alfresco meal can be enjoyed with unrivalled views over the beach.
Brick-built in 1898 in fashionable Tudoresque style, The Grand Hotel was part of the surge in popularity of seaside getaways that occurred in the late Victorian period. Included in the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the Isle of Purbeck has a fascinating pre-history to explore; in fact, fossils from the dinosaur age have been found all along the coastline up to and including Swanage Bay.
From bridal showers and afternoon tea to excursions along the Jurassic Coast followed by a champagne reception, this charming venue is certain to please. There are many areas for beautiful and memorable photos to be taken to document your special day.
With wedding coordinators and toastmaster to ensure that you have the perfect wedding-day experience, The Grand Hotel offers a comprehensive service tailored to suit your requirements. A ceremony-licensed pagoda in the garden will seat up to 150 guests and receptions for up to 120 are usually held in the Coast Restaurant or Conservatory, with the option of exclusive use available.
The Grand Hotel presents two separate options for reception dining; The Coast Restaurant or the Conservatory and Lounge Bar.
The Coast Restaurant offers a fine selection of à la carte cuisine, using fresh, locally-sourced produce to indulge your tastebuds.
Conservatory And Lounge Bar
Ideal for couples preferring a little less formality, The Bar presents an extensive à la carte menu. In the summertime you and your guests can dine al fresco, in the gardens overlooking the sea. They serve a full range of wines, sparkling wines and Champagne.
The hotel's accommodation is comprised of 30 ensuite bedrooms which range from spacious family suites to cosy singles. Many enjoying sea views, the traditionally-decorated rooms come with flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee-making equipment.
If you would like an extra special touch, flowers, handmade chocolates or a bottle of Champagne can be arranged for your room.

The Grand Hotel
My husband and I knew we wanted to get married in Swanage but it was a question of where. As soon as we walked into The Grand Hotel we instantly fell in love with its character and the stunning views it has to offer over Swanage Bay.
When we met Lindsay, the General Manager, we knew we were in good hands to help us plan our dream wedding. She introduced us to all the staff and we kept in regular contact over the planning period. We were always made to feel so welcome and each time we visited, it felt like we were coming home.
