History There is indeed plenty of history to talk about when it comes to Dillington House! This fascinating Grade II*-listed E-plan mansion was constructed during the 1500s, and underwent a number of renovations through the 17th and 19th centuries. The house has been the residence of a number of high-profile knights of the realm, most notably Lord North, who served as Britain's Prime Minister during the infamous American War of Independence in the 1770s. The Tudor house was significantly remodelled in an extensive programme of works in the 19th century, during which much of its surviving Jacobean styling was added. Today Dillington House benefits from the addition of The Hyde, a brilliant example of modern architecture. It currently operates throughout the year as an events, wedding and conference venue.
