Westenhanger Castle is a marvellous fusion of over 5 centuries of history seen in its unique edifice, a Grade I-listed Georgian Manor House constructed to incorporate the remains of a late medieval castle. The striking building, surrounded by 14 acres of lush meadows dotted with medieval barns, is now an ancient monument, a superb backdrop for stunning romantic weddings.

The regal aura of Westenhanger Castle is unavoidable as you stroll around the grounds, and quite rightly so; both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were once in ownership of the property. Given exclusive use of the grounds for a day, brides and grooms are welcome to share the noble legacy of the previous residents. The Castle and its grounds combine to offer the perfect location for your dream castle wedding

There is some evidence of Roman and Saxon occupation on the site of Westenhanger, but the defensive towers and high curtain wall were not built until around 1400, then reinforced to guard against an anticipated French attack in the 15th century.

In 1509 Sir Edward Poynings began to construct a new castle, which passed into the dynastic Tudor ownership of Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary and Elizabeth I, who used it as a command centre for the troops of Kent who fought the Spanish Armada. In 1788 the Georgian manor house was built and adapted so as to incorporate part of the castle ruins, thereby creating the fantastic merging of history presented at Westenhanger today.

For couples seeking a timelessly romantic outdoor ceremony in a breathtaking setting, the Gazebo is perfect. The gazebo is located on the main lawn and is constructed from a beautiful thatched oak frame. The magnificent Rosamond's tower stands proud in the background, making your wedding photographs truly stunning
