History

This public house, nestled on the banks of the River Thames, has been running for nearly 150 years and is one of Putney's best kept secrets.

The building still retains much of its Victorian charm, especially its ballroom. Modernised for 21st century brides, the room has art deco accents, modern chandeliers, high ceilings and duck egg blue walls.

Despite its grand nature, the ballroom has plenty of natural light and is completely self-contained.

With an unbeatable view of Putney Bridge, the venue has offered one of the best spots from which to watch the start of the Oxford and Cambridge University boat race.

The Star and Garter is licensed for Civil Ceremonies so you can spend your entire marriage celebrations within its walls.

Breakfasts, ceremonies and receptions are held in The Star and Garter's stunning Victorian ballroom.

It is hard not to fall in love with its decoration, ceiling-high windows fill the room with light and original Victorian plastering retains the charm of the period.

The Star and Garter provide an on site Events Manager who will attend your big day and make sure all of the festivities run smoothly.

The ballroom also boasts its own private bar and bathrooms so that your ceremony and reception remain exclusive to your guests.
