This beautifully romantic medieval venue is conveniently located in the centre of historic Rochford. As one of the oldest buildings in England, this venue offers a truly unique and authentic experience for your wedding celebrations. Dating back to 1270, the Old Hall serves as the civil ceremony room and is utterly charming with its alter inspired fireplace and hammer beam ceiling. The Old Hall is a truly romantic and magical space for you to exchange your vows.

Facilities include a bridal suite with two luxurious rooms; perfect for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready in. On arrival your guests can enjoy a tipple in the characterful reception room with exposed beams and flooded with natural light. Surrounding the venue you will find picturesque gardens which create a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photographs. The venue effortlessly combines beauty, romance and history to create an extraordinary setting for your special day.


This medieval building is surrounded in Rochford's rich history. The Old House's name stems from its reputation as one of England's oldest buildings. The venue dates all the way back to 1270 and its main hall was built more than 700 years ago.

Its large and intricate frames indicate the height of medieval luxury. The Old Hall was the first part to be built, with extensions coming at later dates which are known as the bridal suite and reception room.

You will see throughout the building lots of original features which creates a feeling of going back in time. By deciding to host your wedding at The Old House, you will also become part of this buildings iconic history.

At over 700 years old, the Old Hall contains original features such as the alter-inspired fireplace and hammer beam ceiling. The exposed brick work and beams create a romantic atmosphere for your wedding ceremony.

The Old House has two beautiful bridal prep rooms where the bride and her party can get ready and relax before her special moment. They offer a serene and calm landscape for the bride and her bridal party to calm their excited nerves.

Wedding Planner

The Old House understand how stressful the planning process of a wedding can be, particularly if you are having your celebrations in different locations. They assign you a dedicated wedding coordinator to take care of all the details for you. They will be with you throughout the day to ensure it unfolds without a hitch.

  • Mr and Mrs Lapage - September 2019

    We were so pleased we decided to have our wedding ceremony at this historic venue. Not only was this building set in wonderful surroundings, but the features inside were absolutely stunning and quaint, and this did make for some treasured memories and stunning photos. We would like to thank all the staff & wedding planners for all there hard work and making our wedding a complete success. We would highly recommend using the Old House as we honestly could not of wished for a more amazing day.
