History
Known as Harty since 1610, this small hamlet holds a fascinating history that led to the creation of The Ferry House. Originally built in the 16th century, the building first served as a public house, becoming a central part of the island's close-knit community. While Harty's population remains small today, The Ferry House continues to flourish. Emma, April 2025
My husband and I got married at The Ferry House in April and had the most incredible experience. From our first viewing in 2024 we were made to feel so special. Weddings are incredibly stressful, but The Ferry House team are so capable that they make the planning process feel easy.
We were able to stay the night before our wedding, and from the moment I arrived to check in to the room I was warmly welcomed by name and had the full VIP treatment. The room itself (the Waterside suite) was stunning, and the bed was so comfortable.
On the day, everything went calmly and smoothly thanks to the efforts of all of The Ferry House team but especially Maxine, Chloe, and Rebecca who took such amazing care of us on the day and ensured everything was taken care of. All of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue is, the deliciousness of the food, and the attentiveness of the staff.
Our Ferry House wedding was absolutely magical, and I cannot recommend them enough to anyone considering staying, eating, or getting married here.
Natalie, May 2025
We had our wedding at The Ferry House on 10 May and couldn't have asked or wished for a better experience.
From the moment we booked (less than 6 months before the wedding), it was clear that they are extremely experienced and efficient at what they do and I was kept updated at all times. Nothing was left to chance.
Maxine was our wedding coordinator on the day along with her assistant, Chloe, and again, they kept us calm and stress free. My husband's shoe broke and there was obviously panic from him (I wasn't made aware of it) but his shoe was taken off to their workshop and came back within minutes, fully wearable!
Maxine came up to get me when it was 'time' and kept me calm although to be honest, it is such a lovely relaxed place to be, it was quite hard to feel anything but excited about the day ahead.
The food, as we already knew, was amazing and everything went like absolute clockwork. All of our family had such an incredible day and it's a day we will talk about for years. It was just perfect.
I cannot fault the venue which is beautiful but also the staff who really do go above and beyond and are exceptional in their organisation and efficiency. Every single member of staff we spoke to was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They genuinely have got it absolutely nailed down and there is no room for error.
It honestly is the most perfect place for a wedding and it's also really lovely to know that we can go back for our anniversary every year to have dinner and relive the memories.
Absolutely five stars for all of it but especially every single member of staff who really are just incredible.
Yasmin, May 2025
We had the most amazing wedding day and this is all down to everyone at The Ferry House for making it such an incredible experience. From the moment we booked our special day to the last meeting we had with Sam was so seamless and perfect and she made us both feel so relaxed and at ease. On the day of our wedding, Sam took care of everything and we didn’t have to worry about a thing! We would highly recommend The Ferry House as it is the perfect venue!
Anna, May 2025
We celebrated our wedding this weekend at The Ferry House and just had the most amazing day in the most spectacular surroundings. The Inn itself is beautiful, large enough to cope comfortably with our 130 guests. The gardens were gorgeous and the view just beautiful. But that was just the start.
From the moment we booked the Ferry House we have had fantastic communication with the weddings team. They were quick to reply to every query I had, gave us advice from their experience and calmed me when the anxiety hit hard a few days before our Wedding! On the day itself I felt like absolute royalty, the getting ready room was beautiful, the brunch platters perfectly pitched for our party and every time I turned around with a query or holding something I didn’t know what to do with, Maxine, Chloe or one of their team was there to deal with it.
The food was absolutely delicious and we had several compliments on the day from impressed guests. I was anxious about being in the limelight for the day but I leaned into it (!) and honestly had the most amazing day and that was largely down to the Ferry House, their incredible team, venue, professionalism and setting. Thank you so much for making our Wedding Day more than I ever expected.
