This lovely Essex 'getaway' venue is blessed in terms of both its location and its fantastic facilities. Catering for up to 100 seated guests, the handsomely-adorned Grade II-listed country manor house, complete with stunning gardens and grounds, offers itself as a 'blank slate' on which to build your perfect dream wedding.

There are eight beautiful acres of pretty gardens leading out to sprawling countryside in which to wander, and couples and their guests enjoy exclusive access to the house and all its pertaining facilities. With a complimentary wedding planner on hand, there is nothing to stop your perfect wedding from becoming a reality.


Before the current house, the site hosted an early 15th-century monastery, a far cry from the cosy country hideaway that stands today. In more modern times, the surviving building served as a private residence (known as Hubbard's Hall) before more recent refurbishment utterly transformed it into an idyllic country retreat.

Directly affecting much more than merely the bricks and mortar, this most recent programme of revitalisation has brought with it a new team of people sharing a common ethos of offering the best possible care, assistance and hospitality to all visitors by means of a highly flexible service and their warm and friendly welcome.



The house presents two grand licensed rooms in which to recite your vows, the Lakeview Lounge with its sweeping bay windows, and the high-ceilinged Hall for larger gatherings.

Catering And Accommodation

The events team at That Amazing Place will happily provide the details of a range of the best external caterers in the area who will tailor the menu to exactly what you require. Be it traditional, informal or altogether quirky, the final choice is yours to make.

That Amazing Place has a fully-licensed bar which features its own medley of wines, as well as a selected assortment of drinks packages. There are no corkage fees for alcohol at this venue.


That Amazing Place offers stunning overnight accommodation and, from 2018, will offer a new, luxury, Bridal Cottage.

Its thirteen luxury bedrooms in the manor house, include an extravagant bridal suite with a king-sized bed and striking views across the surrounding country. Accommodation is available to 27 further members of the wedding party.

    We absolutely fell in love with That Amazing Place when we were searching for our wedding venue; the beautiful house was the perfect blank canvas for us to transform. Every aspect of the house is stunning, from the modern interior of the bedrooms, to the gorgeous ceremony room, to the beautiful garden overlooking the lake- pictures really don’t do this venue justice. The owners, Paul and Jane couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating (Paul even lent one of his white shirts to our groomsmen who forgot his!) and Angie, the wedding planner, was so incredibly helpful and ensured the whole day ran smoothly. I couldn’t recommend the venue more, it really felt like a home away from home and was the perfect place to hold our wedding. We can’t wait to go back to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary!

    We chose That Amazing Place as our wedding venue after a friend recommended it to us. We went to have a look around and fell in love with it instantly. We are thrilled that we chose to have our wedding here as it really was the perfect day – the best day of our lives. Everyone commented on how lovely the place was and we have some gorgeous photographs from on the grounds.

    We want to thank Angie from the bottom of our hearts for making our day run so smoothly. We really had nothing to worry about, and all of the suppliers knew exactly what they were doing and when which we know is down to you. Thank you for all of your support before the wedding too, and for your brilliant recommendations! Thank you as well to Paul for being such a star and making us feel so welcome.
