Richard Young comments that his love of magic stemmed from a magic set his Godmother gave him as a child. Though it spent a few months packed away in a cupboard before Richard found himself bored enough to open it, that magic set would kindle a love of the art form that is still burning today.
He began performing for friends at school, and then teachers during their morning assemblies. At the age of just 14 he was announced as the winner of the prestigious 'Young Magicians Close-Up Magic Competition'.
In 2007 Richard became a full-time professional magician, and after just one year he was nominated to join The Magic Circle, an exclusive club for professionals who can perform to the upmost of standards.
Richard is also one half of the duo Young & Strange, an act that appeared on the 2016 ITV 1 tv programme The Next Great Magician. Out of over 1,000 magicians who auditioned only 20 would be chosen, and Young & Strange made it in. The duo are also one of the headline performers on the nationally touring Champions of Magic theatre show.
