Morley Old Hall

A wedding at Morley Old Hall is a truly enchanting experience. Only 20 mins from Norfolk train station, Morley Old Hall is found hidden in the south Norfolk countryside. The grounds, rich in romantic history, captivate the senses as you arrive via the tree-lined drive. As it gently curves, revealing the stunning Hall, you will find yourself momentarily speechless.

The Hall itself was designed by Sir Jonathan Sedley (an architect to both Henry VII and Henry VIII), started in 1545 and it remained in the Sedley family until 1790s. The gorgeous house has featured in TV and films. It is also the first house in "Beautiful Homes of Britain". Diana, Princess of Wales was a regular guest. It is fully surrounded by an Anglo -Saxon Moat.

Facilities

If couples qualify, they have the option of getting married at Morley St Peter's Church (at the end of the drive). Alternatively, they are invited to hold a blessing. Morley Old Hall is not currently licensed for marriages.

Lawns and grounds

The grounds at Morley Old Hall lend themselves to a brilliant celebration. Guests are encouraged to utilise the beautiful grounds of Morley Old Hall hence The Piggery opens via French Windows onto a party deck which may be lit up at night. This in turn, leads onto an Ancient Orchard festooned with lights and a perfect place for alfresco dining adding to the festive feel with just enough romance to create sparks.

The Piggery

The disused farrowing barn was renovated in 2019 into a spacious and yet cosy entertainment area. It is decorated lavishly in the style of a country study or living room; there are deep forest green walls decked with gilt framed oil paintings, lush chesterfield chairs and sofas, an enormous wood burning stove, a full Tudor style dining table plus a proper bar. This area is perfect for dinners up to circa 60 or may be used as a dance floor after dinner.

Accommodation

There are nine beautiful bedrooms, a short distance from The Piggery and The Orchard. There is also an entertainment area, complete with a bar, kitchen and party deck.

If you’re looking for more than nine rooms, then your guests can glamp in The Orchard, which has its own firepit and BBQ.
