History

The history of Middle Temple dates back to 1573, serving as an Inn of Court within the City of London that still serves the legal profession today. Visiting the hall, it's hard not to be inspired by the centuries of history within its walls. The building has survived the Great Fire of London and the Blitz and the first recorded performance of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night took place in the hall in February 1602.

To enter Middle Temple's Hall is to take a step back in time. The double hammer vaulted roof and detailed stained-glass windows are simply awe inspiring. Sitting at the head table, a gift to the hall from Queen Elizabeth I, you would be forgiven for forgetting what century you were in.
