London Rowing Club

Located on the South bank of the River Thames in the London borough of Putney, the London Rowing Club is a unique, industrial style Victorian building home to three bright and beautiful function rooms perfect for weddings large and small.

Licensed for civil ceremonies and with capacity for up to 200 guests, the London Rowing Club offers a peaceful location within one of the world's most bustling and vibrant cities. This venue is perfect for couples looking to have an urban wedding undisturbed by the usual noise of the big city.

About

Founded in 1856 with the objective of promoting the sport of rowing in London, the London Rowing Club moved to the building in which it is now housed in 1871. The club has since fostered some of the UK's best rowing talents, many of whom have achieved international ranking.

The building itself has seen little alteration since it opened almost 150 years ago besides some upgrades and modernisations in 2006. This means it has retained much of its original charm as well as a number of period features, making it extremely atmospheric and the perfect location for a city wedding.

Ceremony and Reception Rooms

The Long Room

The largest of the building's three rooms is perfect for every aspect of your wedding day and can be easily transitioned from ceremony space to an evening reception area. This bright and airy room features original fireplaces and wooden beams and can be easily decorated to suit your tastes.

Ceremony capacity - 100 guests
Wedding breakfast capacity - 100 guests
Reception capacity - 150 guests

Fairbarn Room

Named for Steve Fairbarn, a famous rowing coach of the 1920s and '30s, this smaller room is ideal for hosting a drinks reception after your ceremony whilst the Long Room is turned around for your wedding breakfast and evening reception.

The Members' Room

Ideal for couples desiring a more intimate affair, the Members' Room is normally used for private dining and is perfect for keeping all your nearest and dearest close as you celebrate your big day.

Catering

The London Rowing Club offers kitchen facilities to be used by caterers of your choice. A list of preferred caterers is available, but couples are also welcome to find their own.

    I can't thank Olivia and her team at London Rowing Club enough for making our wedding day so perfect! She stepped in at the 11th hour to take over the organisation, didn't flap when the florist failed to turn up and still managed to make the room look beautiful. Her attention to detail and organisational skills were exceptional and she thought of many things we'd never even considered – and even though it poured down all day for our wedding, the riverside location was still amazing.

The bar staff were wonderful and made everyone laugh and certainly added to the fun atmosphere, please pass my thanks to them as well.
