Kushi Cars

Cheltenham-based Kushi Cars proudly boast a distinctive Hindustan Ambassador Classic, an Indian vintage-style car imported from Calcutta. Altered and embellished with beautiful exotic flowers on both bumpers, and a rather colourful gold and red Indian-themed interior, the vehicle offers a fantastic and stylish manner of getting to and from your wedding venues!

Kushi Cars is owned and run by the experienced Suzie Goodman, whose approach towards providing a useful service both on the day and behind the scenes is flexible. Operating as standard within a one-hour driving radius of Cheltenham, her emphasis is firmly placed on making the most of the few hours you will have with this truly lovable and stunning vehicle.

About

The story of Kushi Cars starts in London back in 2000, when four imported Hindustan Ambassadors arrived from the influential city and port of Calcutta. Based on the designs of the 1950s Morris Oxford, these cars were transformed both inside and out, and a fleet of Kushi Cars (then known as Karma Kars) was born.

After operating as a stylish form of personal transport for brides and grooms, and for London's well-to-do in general for several years, the company eventually provided a bedazzling Kushi Cars for Suzie Goodman's wedding in 2010. Instantly smitten by the novel concept, Suzie decided to set up her own Kushi Cars company in the heart of the Cotswolds, and has been running her very own car, the Goa Sunset, ever since.

The Car

Say hello to the Kushi Car, an authentic Hindustan Ambassador Classic, imported via Calcutta from the sweltering West Bengal town of Uttarpara.

Based upon Morris Motors' old 1957 Morris Oxford Series III, the Indian Hindustan Ambassador is justifiably venerated as the only remaining survivor of Great Britain's automotive industry - the Ambassador is still being produced today!

Putting its British roots aside, the Hindustan Ambassador well and truly holds a place in the industrial (and thereby cultural) heart of India, and has become one of the most iconic vehicles to roll off the country's burgeoning automotive assembly lines.

Capacity

The car is able to seat up to three people comfortably - plus the driver, of course!

The Decoration

Besides its gorgeous, streamlined and curvaceous ivory-white exterior appearance, the Kushi Car's most fascinating feature has to be its heavily-embellished interior. Sequin-encrusted borders, golden fabric lace, miniature dangling chandeliers, rich reds, yellows and golds carpet virtually every surface within, and make for the perfect authentic period Raj atmosphere.

Moving back outside the car, the Kushi Car's bumpers will also be festooned with fresh and exotic flowers on the day - provided especially for your big occasion!

The Service

Typically, hiring the Kushi Car involves a two-hour period of hire, accompanied by an experienced driver. Suzie Goodman (or her husband), will be your chauffeur for the day, and she is especially known for her ability to read and react to any given situation. Elaborating on this further, Suzie follows the Taoist belief that 'the journey is more important than the arrival', and will make sure to adapt her manner of driving or the way she interacts with you personally to whether you appear nervous, excited, or just plain happy to be getting married.

Journeys And Photography

Depending on distances between wedding venues and accommodation, Suzie may be able to make multiple journeys in order to transport the entire bridal party to and fro in addition to yourselves.

Suzie is also more than willing to work alongside your photographer to set up some stunning snaps, sometimes taking out up to 20 minutes to engineer the photograph of your dreams - perhaps in a picturesque location.

Coverage

Kushi Cars generally travel an hour from their base in Cheltenham, which includes many of the most interesting locations in the South West, such as Cheltenham itself, Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Gloucester and Cirencester, together with the wider regions of Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire too.

Quotes will always be calculated and based on the distance of your wedding from the Kushi Cars base - just login or register with The Wedding Secret and your exact distance from the company will appear above!

Travel beyond an hour's drive radius is also possible, but will incur additional cost.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your help on Saturday. We had such a fantastic day and I really got into the mood of the wedding by travelling to the venue in your fantastic Ambassador! It was so much fun! My Mum, Dad and the bridesmaids loved it too! You are a total professional and your communication and help in the leas up to the day were great. In addition, you were so kind to me on the day, helping to manoeuvre in and out of the car.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to you, not only for providing us with a beautiful car on our wedding day, but for the service we received with it. You have always been so friendly and easy to work with and you also helped out hugely when you took that bit of control when we were starting to run behind time in getting to the church. A voice of calm in the panic that was arising. From getting me and my huge dress into and out of the car with care and ease, to stopping traffic for me to cross the road, you were a big help and we really appreciated it.

  • Milly and Ian

Suzie and her car were both amazing on the day. She was calm and friendly and even reminded me about taking off my engagement ring before the ceremony. The car was amazing! A real traffic stopper, my guests loved it as did the dozens of tourists who lined the streets to look at the car!
