The Bartella family own and run The Ivy Hill Hotel. The estate dates back to 1891 and has been lovingly renovated to create the 31 en-suite bedrooms, function rooms and restaurant that the hotel boasts today.

Ivy Hill Hotel
Situated in the village of Margaretting, located just outside the city of Chelmsford. Within close proximity to the A12 and M25 as well as Stansted and Southend airports.
They have a professional in-house hotel team who have experience planning small and large events. They can offer packages to suit your needs whether you are looking to celebrate with a few friends or host a luxurious celebration the team will work with you to create your perfect wedding.
Facilities
The Ivy Hill Hotel has several function rooms available to host your wedding and is licensed for all civil ceremonies under the Essex Registration Service.
Ivy Suite
If you are looking for a small, intimate wedding you can hire one of the two Ivy rooms, both of which possess a charming view over the landscaped gardens. For larger parties of up to 70 guests these rooms can be combined to create The Ivy Suite. To be able to accommodate dancing the addition of a portable dance floor will be required in this room at an charge.

Margaretting Suite
The Margaretting Suite, with its own dance floor and contemporary mirrored pillars, makes a stunning room to hold your wedding celebration. The suite can comfortably accommodate up to 160 guests seated and has its own bar.
The hotel has the capability to combine all the function suites should you wish to hold a more lavish wedding and can seat up to 220 guests.

Packages and Catering
The Ivy Hill Hotel offer three all-inclusive packages for you to choose from, which includes a reception drink, three-course wedding breakfast followed by coffee and mints, a third of a bottle of wine, a glass of bubbly for the toast and an evening buffet. Extra items such as canapés, cheese boards and additional drinks can be added at cost to each package. Minimum numbers are applicable.

Accommodation
The Ivy Hill Hotel offers a special advance purchase rate on all 31 of its rooms for those attending a wedding at the hotel. These contemporary bedrooms are stylishly decorated, and the booking includes a full English breakfast.
The Bridal Suite is a stunning room, with soft and contemporary furnishings, including a handmade chandelier. It has a spacious modern bathroom and dedicated dressing area designed to make any occupant feel special.

The Ivy Hill Hotel team put so much love and care into our special day, Libby, Charlotte, and Lewis were especially helpful and attentive throughout the process and day. They laid out the entire schedule, guiding us through the process. All of their help enabled the day to run smoothly. They also respond to any questions promptly via both email and call. Without asking, the hotel provided a video of the day, both lovely to have and also for family that couldn’t attend. We couldn’t recommend the Ivy Hill Hotel enough, we shall be back for our anniversary.

The ivy was the first wedding venue we looked at when considering venues for our wedding whilst viewing others we kept coming back to the idea of the ivy mainly due to how amazing and friendly the staff was (beautiful grounds massive added bonus) and after having our wedding this weekend I can honestly say we absolutely don’t regret our decision we have had the most amazing weekend and nothing was to much to ask for the staff literally ended up fitting in like family..libby you eased my nerves at every given opportunity nothing was to much trouble so attentive and we can’t thank you all enough..Nick and Amy x

We had our special day at the Ivy Hill Hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful in all our plans and on our day. Libby was amazing, organising and making sure everything went to plan. She went above and beyond in making our day everything we asked for. I couldn’t say enough how amazing it all was and how smoothly it was run. My now husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and got married here on the second day. We cannot fault the staff. When we found out we would be having a 6 week old baby at the wedding after saying there would be no children we got a "yeah thats fine and congratulations " message and never once felt like it was a problem or an issue. We did have to ask for no hot plates to be brought over the baby's head but considering how stressful a wedding can be for everyone and how much has to be prepared and remembered it went amazing. The day was unforgettable for all the good reasons. The grounds were beautiful and allowed for some stunning photos and the food was amazing.

We had our dream wedding at Ivy Hill Hotel in Margaretting in August ’24. We planned our wedding for a good few years and Ivy Hill was brilliant for us in many ways. They always responded very quickly to all our questions and provided us with the right information at the right time. Ivy Hill Hotel is beautiful, from inside and outside, gardens too. Staff were always very helpful, professional and welcoming, nothing was too big an ask for them. They went beyond our expectations during the planning of our wedding and our wedding day. They surprised us during our Big Day so many times, and did things for us we did not even ask them to do, for example they fixed and decorated our wedding cake beautifully for us after it was delivered slightly damaged and decorated our ceremony table for us even though we did not ask them as we forgot to provide flower decorations for this. They also beautifully arranged our wedding favours on the tables. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. They were there for us during the day, helping us with things we did not think of. We highly recommend Ivy Hill Hotel and we look forward to use the venue in the future. M&Z

Staff were great and always available to answer any queries we had prior to our big day, manager was amazing and made sure to facilitate to all our needs. Our day ran smoothly, food was yummy and was able to cater to our guests who had dietary requirements also allowing us access to the rooms the night before to be able to decorate was an added bonus! Nothing was too much trouble and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a day to remember. The venue is beautiful and picturesque. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel. We got married here and have been back for our wedding anniversary and family meals. The setting is absolutely stunning and the staff are very welcoming and helpful, even remember us when we return which we feel is even more welcoming.
