History
This Grade I-listed castle dates back to the 9th century when the land was first granted to the Bishop of Worcester. The castle has been a significant power ever since and has been the home of many political and ecclesiastical powers.
Hartlebury Castle also boasts the grand Hurd Library. Created in the 1700s this library is a wonderful tribute to the Age of Enlightenment and hosts an incredible range of collections from numerous book collectors.
Throughout history, Hartlebury Castle has hosted many royal guests, including, Queen Elizabeth I. To honour this visit, the venue created the Queen Elizabeth Walk which still exists on the ground and can be enjoyed by all visitors.
In 2017 the castle began a superb transformation with the Bishop's rooms opening to the public and an extensive range of facilities and upgrades taking place.
This majestic building is now available to hire for weddings and is the perfect backdrop to any stately celebration.
