Elmore Court

Elmore Court is a stunning 750-year-old Grade II* listed country house that's been in the same family since 1262. Positioned in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside with stunning views over the Cotswolds and River Severn, the house retains much of its original character with contemporary features throughout.

The Hall is the largest of 4 reception rooms in the house; a beautifully grand room that provides an ideal location for your ceremony for up to 200 guests (150 seated). The remaining reception rooms are also all licensed for civil ceremonies and provide relaxing areas for your drinks reception and anything else you might have planned. This is all in addition to the classic English country gardens that are yours as well.

History

Elmore Court has a history reaching back hundreds of years. The principal section of the current building was created in 1564, and this itself was constructed over the site of a medieval house, telltale parts of which are still visible in the cellar.

The Guise family have presided over the Elmore estate since 1262, and over the 750 intervening years have painstakingly maintained their property until the present day. Anselm Guise, with the assistance of his children, administers the estate today, and their recent endeavours have revolved around transforming the mansion and its pretty grounds into one of the UK's most interesting and beautiful places to get married.

Owner Anselm Guise has quite a history himself, having organised festivals across the UK such as the Electronic Dance Music Festival, Glade Festival, and the startup of the record company, Nano Records. Elmore Court also featured on Channel 4's Country House Rescue in 2008.

Facilities

Elmore Court features an appropriately eclectic mix of architecture and interior design, from Tudor features through to Georgian, Victorian and of course, some more modern additions too!

The Hall

At the heart of the house, this beautifully grand room is licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies for up to 200 guests. The space features a huge mullioned bay window, glazed with stained glass coats-of-arms, which dapple a kaleidoscope of colour on the wooden floor.

Civil Ceremony Capacity - 150 guests seated or 200 standing

The Drawing Room

A great place to sit down and catch your breath, this room is ideal for a Champagne reception, and the furniture can even be cleared for more space-dominating events. It is perfect for guests staying over in the house to have a quick nightcap before retiring to their rooms after the wedding celebrations have finished.

The Gillyflower

The award-winning 'Gillyflower' is a hidden gem tucked behind the main house and offers a real surprise for your guests. It is a romantic, totally sound proofed and sustainable new building designed for drinking and dining for up to 200 guests. It is well equipped with state of the art sound and lighting for that important first dance! There is plentiful natural light, and outside in the fields you and your guests can enjoy relaxing around a roaring fire-pit, surrounded by trees lit romantically with candlelight.

Reception Capacity - 200 guests

Accommodation

Elmore Court boasts quite arguably one of the most stunning bridal suites in the whole of Gloucestershire. The Master Suite, as it's known, features views over the Cotswolds, amazing wood-paneled walls, a large dressing room and even a Caesar-sized bed (almost twice the size of a double bed!).

More Rooms

Elmore Court also offers 16 beautifully refurbished boutique bedrooms - ideal for your guests to stay overnight offering accommodation for up to 40 of your guests (there are also camp beds available which can take the house capacity up to 46). There is a further non-inclusive option of additional external accommodation nearby.

The Coach House

A recent addition to Elmore Court, the Coach House was built to accommodate small groups of guests (groomsmen, bridesmaids or suppliers) the evening before your big day, and so that they can wake up on site. Separate to the main house, it has its own driveway so it won't interfere with the main event. It comes equipped with a sitting room with a double sofa-bed and two double bedrooms combined with a simple kitchen.

Catering

The culinary experience at Elmore is incredible; the kitchen teams are super-skilled and give you the flexibility you need for your special day. They work closely with local suppliers and with the Estate's own gardeners to ensure the ingredients are as fresh and delicious as possible. There is a well-stocked cellar if you choose a drink package, or you can bring your own!

The absolute perfect wedding venue! I am so glad I found you guys!! The whole team delivered great service and were so friendly and accommodating along the way. Adele looked after our booking and she was such a great help; kind, invested, calm and reassuring, plus there was nothing was too much to ask.

The venue is stunning on its own right, and everything about our experience at Elmore felt like home! Waking up in your beautiful Smoking Room was the icing on the cake, decor was beautiful and we felt so at ease. I was so proud to show off your beautiful venue to all our friends and family. We look forward to spending a wedding anniversary at Elmore in the future and wish you and the whole team every success for the future.

What an incredible day! We knew we'd secured a unique, intimate and magical venue (and boy did it live up to it) but come the day it was Leesa and the team's expertise that ensured the our wedding ran smoothly and was so effortlessly enjoyable for us and our guests.

Team E's experience shone through at every corner and if ever we needed something, Leesa appeared, as if summoned telepathically, with a huge smile to quietly guide us and make sure we were able to enjoy every aspect of our wedding. The care and attention to detail was astonishing and we cannot thank Team E enough for their part in making our once in a lifetime day perfect.

Our only disappointment is that we can't do it all again but then perhaps we'll be invited to come back and celebrate someone else's matrimony; as we've sung your praises to just about everyone we know (and some we don't), the chances are good. For now we will continue to follow the story of Elmore from a distance, fondly, with our precious memories of a magical day.

Thank you Elmore for the most wonderful Christmas wedding in December, it was truly magical. As soon as I drove up to Elmore the night before and saw the beautiful Christmas tree lit up in the windows of the great hall, I knew our wedding was going to be as spectacular as I had dreamed it would be.

Louise, you coordinated everything perfectly and made sure I didn't have a single thing to worry about, from the evening we arrived at the beautiful coach house, throughout the wedding day itself and until the moment we left after our delicious breakfast. The bridal party enjoyed every minute of getting ready in the stunning master suite and my hubby said the same. The little things I'd forgotten, you seemed to remember so I could just sit back, be pampered and sip my champagne.

The venue is simply stunning, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, a perfect blend of old meets new. So many of our guests have said what a perfect day it was at the most amazing venue.....lots of laughs, fabulous food and dancing to some great house tunes, all the better on your Funktion One sound system! Not sure how much of your Baileys we got through back in the house at the end of the night but thank your lovely staff for putting up with us and still serving with a smile at 2am!

What an excellent and perfect day it was!!! There is absolutely nothing about the day I would have changed. Everything went smooth, everyone was happy, and it was without a doubt the best day in our lives. It was worth all the emails leading up to it haha!!!! The day was beyond our expectations and we heard nothing but positive and kind remarks from all our guests throughout the day. Everyone said it was the most personal, intimate, and beautiful ceremony they had ever been to and we couldn't agree more!!! Not to mention the hospitality throughout the day for all the vendors, waiters/waitresses, Louise, Chloe, Simon, and everyone else apart of the day was beyond a 10 out of 10!!! Polite, attentive, respectful, and kind are just a few of many more I could express how wonderful your staff is and was and for that I can't thank you enough!

We can not say enough good things about this venue. It was absolutely perfect! The venue is an amazing mix with the beautiful and historic house and the more contemporary and stunning Gillyflower (if you can't choose one style why not have both?!) The gardens are also beautiful and there are so many picture perfect spots for photos. Team E were the best, and provided an amazing service, both in the run up and on the day. Absolutely faultless! I couldn't recommend this place more. The catering is done in house and our guests (all big foodies) said that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Enough said there. You won't find a better venue!

  • Leah and Shea - 30/07/2016

My hubby and I got "hitched" in the July of this year and to say it was amazing would be a total understatement! Team E were incredible and made us feel completely at home, not only on the big day, but throughout the planning and preparation. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and the house speaks for it's self oozing with history and charm. I think the fact we chose to have our reception an hour away from our church service says a lot for the place. We are just sad we can't re do it all over again and again. Thank you Team E, you are the best!!
