History

Beginning life in 1875 as a traditional country cottage known then as 'Goldings', the original structure was enlarged to twenty times its original size in 1881 by owner Evelyn Heseltine. Upon his retirement from the army, the Heseltine residence became the centre of village life as a gathering for all types of social or community groups, in a room now known as the Golding Suite.

After passing to the Heseltines' son-in-law, Brigadier General De Rougemont, and subsequently to the Hilton family (who still own the property today) in 1968, the house was converted into the luxury hotel we see today. Despite a devastating fire back in 2001 that destroyed 90% of the building, the historic parts of the hotel have been restored and stand as fitting testament to the long and well-established history of De Rougemont Manor.

The manor itself has a variety of versatile lounges and suites that present a generous space for any wedding celebration, banquet, buffet or barbecue. Each room contains a little piece of individual history and in certain cases (Golding, Champers Suites) benefit from their own private bars and dance floors.
