About
Cogges offers a stunning wedding venue with a rich history spanning over 1000 years. The Manor House and expansive grounds, including a walled garden, provide a picturesque backdrop for capturing beautiful photos. Cogges is a popular filming location, you may even recognise it as ‘Yew Tree Farm’ in Downton Abbey.
The venue boasts two magnificent 18th century barns that serve as the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and other celebrations. These barns offer a blank canvas for you to create a truly unique and special day.
For smaller weddings, the Dining Room in the Manor House provides a grand but cosy setting.
Facilities
Cogges Manor Farm offers a 'dry-hire' venue where you have the freedom to customise the barns to your liking and choose your own theme, decorations, caterers, musicians, and suppliers.
Planning a wedding involves a lot of effort, and Cogges will assist you in creating a unique and personalised wedding with useful tips and creative suggestions to ensure your special day runs smoothly.
At Cogges, you can choose to get married in our barns or in the Dining Room of our Manor House.
If you choose the barns, your wedding package includes the use of both the Wheat and Barley barns for 3 days. This allows you time to set up and take down before and after the wedding and also means you can use the space for a pre-wedding get-together with guests if you choose to! Each barn is equipped with a civil marriage license for your ceremony. The walled courtyard directly outside of the barns with a covered canopy is exclusively reserved for your event.
Following the ceremony, you have the flexibility to host your reception and party indoors in the barns or outdoors on the lawn. The celebration can commence at your preferred time, with music concluding by 11pm and all guests departing by midnight.
The Wheat Barn
The Wheat Barn can accommodate up to 200 guests in banquet-style or 130 on round tables, with the option for a ceremony seating over 250.
The Barley Barn
The Barley Barn, a smaller adjacent space, can seat up to 140 guests for a ceremony and serves as a versatile area for dancing, a bar, or a quiet spot for children during the wedding breakfast.
The Dining Room in the Manor House
The Dining Room in the grand Manor House at Cogges is perfect for small, intimate weddings or a renewal of vows and is a wonderful place to get married. With panelling on every wall, this room was the impressive living and dining room for the Mawle family who lived at Cogges in 1877.
It can comfortably seat 20 guests and in colder months, the fire can be lit to create even more atmosphere.
You can access the Dining Room from the afternoon, the day before your wedding and there are a number of catering options available.
