History

Facilities
The Banqueting Hall
This room is the largest and most impressive, with oak panels and medieval images painted across the walls. Perfect for ceremonies and wedding breakfasts, the Banqueting Hall provides you with plenty of space.
Ceremony capacity - 100 guests
The Library
Provided with all its original furniture, the Library is the perfect room for a drinks reception.
Capacity - 70 guests
The Drawing Room
The highlight of this room is not just its perfectly maintained interior, displaying its 1770s original features, but the marvellous views of the Castle Grounds and Normal Keep. This room can be merged with the Library for a drinks reception.
Capacity - 50 guests
The Undercroft
As one of the oldest parts of the castle and originating back to the 15th Century, this room is perfect for large ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening receptions. Set in a stone-vaulted undercroft, the room gives a fantastic atmosphere.

The Guest Tower Rooms
Suitable for ceremonies, wedding breakfast and drinks receptions, the Guest Tower Rooms consists of a self-contained suite comprised of two other rooms: The Walnut Room and The Oak Room.
Ideal for intimate events, and with beautiful views of the Castle Grounds, this suite will dazzle both you and your guests

The Interpretation Centre
With the capacity to host ups to 150 guests, this contemporary room is located at the heart of the castle and is an ideal environment for a large evening reception.

Mother of the bride
Our bairn and her feller decided to celebrate their marriage in style so booked The Undercroft at Cardiff Castle.
We arrived the day before to deliver personal items and the welcome couldn't have been better. On the big day we walked down the main shopping street, in our finery, to the castle main gate. I hadn't been inside the venue previously and it took my breath away. After a moving ceremony the room was re-arranged and the meal was served. Excellent food served by pleasant, friendly, attentive staff. Overall a brilliant day and I'm not just saying this because my daughter was the beautiful bride. -

What a fantastic place to get married, amazing venue, fabulous service, great food and there are not enough words to express our gratitude to the organisers John and then Michael on the day. They made the whole experience magical for us and even arranged for the sun to come out for the arrival of the bride. Totally amazing experience and I would recommend Cardiff Castle to anybody who wants the full romantic wedding day.

I have only ever been to Cardiff Castle as a day visitor, but, had the privilege of being a wedding guest in December!
What a magical location! The marriage was in the basement of the castle which was superb, and very atmospheric, then we had drinks in the bar area next door, and then we had a wonderful meal in the main banqueting hall, which was just beautiful, dark and atmospheric :-) There were no fewer than three Christmas trees in the banqueting hall :-) Simply stunning.
