Black Velvet Band

This incredibly versatile West Country-based band specialise in providing music for upbeat, interactive Ceilidhs, Barndances and Hoedowns as well as performances of the traditional Irish repertoire of songs and tunes. An experienced dance-caller can be brought along to informally guide and instruct everyone, dances can be selected and tailored to suit different abilities, and even if people do get the steps wrong it doesn't matter - it's all about having fun!

The group's flexible line-up makes them a versatile option for reception parties of all sizes, so, whether it's to complement a theme or pay respect to Celtic family heritage, why not celebrate your newlywed status with a time-honoured, traditional knees-up!

Performing as an intimate duo performing a traditional Irish repertoire through to an energetic 6-piece, the full band comprises two fiddles, accordion, guitar, vocals and double-bass - the lively rhythmic sound will have your guests on their feet in no time!

Having performed together for many years, Black Velvet Band have perfected the art of creating a raucous and electric atmosphere at weddings across the UK. All members of the band are professional and exceptionally skilled musicians who can effortlessly adapt their playing styles to produce the exact genre you're after - whether it's evoking traditional sounds of Scotland with fiddle-tunes like 'The Flowers Of Edinburgh', or the distinctive musical flavour of the Wild Wild West.

Not that you are restricted to just a single musical style, of course. Upon request The Black Velvet Band can present a versatile setlist spanning a range of genres just for you - they can even turn their hand to a tasty bit of Swing Jazz or Folky Pop!

Performance and Audio

The Black Velvet Band typically performs 2 x 60-minute sets of live music in a three hour period! The band will bring along all the equipment required, including a professional-quality PA system, and if you have any specific song requests, simply let the bandleader know, and they will try to include it in the set.
