Beaconside Country House is a stunning Victorian villa located in Bideford. It sits snugly in 25 acres of countryside yet is only ten minutes from the North Devon coast. It can be exclusively hired for wedding weekends and is well-equipped for extended celebrations. As it's able to sleep over 40 people, it's a fantastic way to gather your family and friends together for your big day.
Three areas are licensed for civil ceremonies: the house itself, outside in the walled garden, or even in the indoor pool! There is a marquee which can be erected in the grounds for evening receptions. As the house is exclusively yours for the weekend, you arrange things exactly how you wish, with no restrictions - and your wedding day can be extended to the whole weekend!
The charismatic large early Victorian villa was built in 1841. Its architecture is typical of the period, as it features high ceilings with cornices, large fireplaces, traditional tiled floors and sash windows, with a sheltering three-sided iron-framed verandah. While it was originally a traditional English family home, it's now a place for families and groups of friends to celebrate together.
There is a varied choice of areas licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies, such as the walled garden, the main house itself, or for a marriage ceremony with a difference, the indoor pool!

For wedding receptions, Beaconside's marquee can be hired, accommodating up to 180 people. It includes 15 round tables and chairs, a dancefloor and bar area, silk lining and lighting.
For the rest of your wedding celebrations, there are abundant leisure facilities. These include indoor and outdoor pools, two hot tubs, a tennis court and croquet lawn, 14 acres of private woodland with fishing rights, plus indoor table tennis and pool.

You are welcome to bring in your own caterers but the team at Beaconside have great connections with companies who have worked at the house before such as wedding specialists Guess Events, who source their meat, fish and dairy locally and create bespoke menus specially for each wedding depending on taste and budget. Known as Devon's hog-roast mastermind, Royston Dennis specialises in anything that is cooked on the barbecue! Recommended also is West Country Catering, a local company who present high-quality wedding breakfasts at fantastic prices.
The event team at Beaconside Country House will be happy to recommend other local suppliers, and have good contacts with florists, bakers, photographers or bridal boutiques in the area.
Up to 40 guests can stay in Beaconside Country House and its cottages. 10 extra beds can be supplied if required, with space for 10 additional tents in the grounds. All rooms are rented on a self-catering basis; serving as a 'home away from home', they contain all the necessary facilities for a brilliant weekend away.
