The 18th-century house and 11 acres of stunning Grade II-listed pleasure grounds and a small park can be exclusively yours to explore for the day.
Anything is possible at Barley Wood, with formal receptions and evening parties taking place in the main house. Alternatively, you could make use of the gardens and host your reception in a marquee! Also, up to eighteen adult guests can be accommodated on site, making this the perfect all-inclusive wedding venue near Bristol, as Barley Wood has just been granted its civil ceremony licence!
The Barley Wood Estate was originally created for author and social reformer Hannah More in the late 18th century. The house itself was built at the turn of the 19th century within the pasture and farmland of Wrington. At this point Miss More was sharing the house and grounds with her four sisters; Barley Wood became quite well-known and was frequented by many important figures.
Barley Wood has two areas which are now licensed to host civil ceremonies, the Morning Room or, in fine summer weather, a ceremony may be held out of doors in the Italian Gardens.

Receptions can either take place across the whole house, or instead you can enjoy stunning views of the beautiful Yeo Valley and host your celebration under a marquee in the gardens. There is sufficient space there for a marquee that holds up to 150 guests.

Our daughter's wedding this weekend at Barley wood was outstanding in every way, everything fell into place made easier by the hard work and help from the Barley wood team. The charming house is so calming and peaceful, the grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the "can do" attitude of the staff is equal to none.
We feel very privaledged to have been able to use this amazing venue for this important occasion, and the feedback we are getting from the guests that attended has made us very proud and pleased that we chose you.

We first visited Barley Wood on a cold January day, and straight away knew it was a special place. Amie made us feel welcome, and we went away knowing it was the place for us (despite it being the first venue we visited!)
It is incredibly beautiful and magical. You have everything you would need for your wedding, and more!! Our whole weekend was incredible and we have so many special memories and hope there will be opportunities to always return to Barley Wood.
However, what really makes it are the staff and values. We loved that it was run by the YMCA and it didn't feel like a 'wedding factory'. Amie was so helpful, all the way through and her and Tracey were an amazing help. They really can do anything! Gary was fantastic on the day, making sure everything ran smoothly and was all in the right place.
I could go on and on! Barley Wood will always be an important place to us and we hope it never changes!
Barley Wood is such an amazing venue. My husband and I had our wedding here 3 weeks ago, we knew on our first visit to the venue it was where we wanted to get married. It is a gorgeous building with grounds that look spectacular at any time of year, and of course a room fit for a ceilidh! The staff were all absolutely brilliant and I can't thank you all enough. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Amie answered all my questions on the run up to the big day (Barley Wood have thought of everything), and Tracey kept me calm on the day with her brilliant organisation. I would fully recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect venue for their special day!
This was the most amazing find for our daughter and son-in-laws wedding! So very very picturesque the views are stunning, gorgeous walks, woods and gardens. The house has been restored beautifully, the bedroom so tasteful and comfortable. It was like staying in someone's house it was so relaxing! The best place for their wedding, it was better than we could ever have imagined! Thank you to all the staff they were so friendly, helpful and supportive, nothing was too much trouble at all. We can't put into words how incredibly lucky we feel to have had our wedding at Barley Wood. It is an extremely special place, full of history and beautifully restored. Thomasina, Gary and the rest of the team can't do enough to help you - from viewings in the run up to the wedding, to getting stuck-in on the day! Nothing is too much trouble. It really feels like it's your home for the weekend.
Our friends and family haven't stopped raving about the house - I know a lot of them want to come back to see it again and we are hoping someone books their wedding here so we can experience it all again!
