About
A Royal Legacy
Ashridge House has one of the most remarkable histories of any wedding venue in the UK. A former royal hunting lodge for King Henry VIII, it later became the childhood home of Princess Elizabeth I and Prince Edward. The estate spans over 700 years of history and sits within 190 acres of beautiful listed gardens in the Chiltern Hills, surrounded by National Trust woodland.
The building itself is a masterpiece of early 19th-century Gothic Revival architecture, designed by James Wyatt and completed by his nephew Jeffry Wyatville. Interiors are rich with original features: fluted marble columns, elaborate gold-leaf ceilings, original Austrian oak panelling, and ornate chandeliers. The interconnecting heritage rooms create a natural, seamless flow from one breathtaking space to the next, meaning your guests will be continually wowed throughout the day.
Today, Ashridge House is an award-winning wedding venue, recognised by Tatler's Address Book and multiple industry accolades, and remains one of the most sought-after settings in the Home Counties.
