About
After marrying in Alpheton Church and hosting their reception in the South Barn, owners Carol and Nic Willcocks decided to open the Barn doors to other couples for their day. Always aiming to preserve the fabric and charm of the Barns, whilst creating a setting which provides everything you need they have kept all materials and the layout as close as possible to the original, part of which, they believe, dates back to the 10th century. With an emphasis on sustainability, each year they add a selection of new plants and trees to encourage new wildlife into the surrounding woodland and meadows.
Facilities
Civil Ceremony
Choose between the dedicated West ‘Ceremony’ Barn with three tiers of timber framing, lime plaster walls, natural stone floor, and lime-washed Chiavari chairs, or the Woodland Ceremony Glade (May – September inclusive) with a natural tree aisle, hand-crafted oak ceremony structure, and rustic wood benches. If you opt for the Woodland Glade, the West Barn remains available in case of cold or wet weather. The Church of St Peter & St Paul, Alpheton is located next to the Barns and may be an option for couples seeking a Church wedding (subject to qualifying criteria).
Wedding Reception
The South ‘Reception’ Barn, a former double threshing barn, is perfect for wedding celebrations. Believed to have 10th-century origins, it is the largest and oldest barn and can accommodate both small and large celebrations. The space allows for a wedding breakfast, lounge area, bar, dance floor, and entertainment all in one area, giving guests freedom while keeping everyone together. Long or round tables and chairs are provided, with ample scope for decoration, including draping vintage wood ladder lights and iron hoop lights with flowers, foliage, or ribbons. Full sound system, PA system, lighting (including fairy lights), commercial kitchens, WCs, and heating are included.
Outside Spaces
Alpheton Hall Barns offers a variety of outdoor spaces, including a South-facing drinks terrace, the Confetti Arboretum with heart-shaped confetti area surrounded by long grasses and wildflowers, the Stackyard Garden for drinks and garden games, and the Barns courtyard with a built-in pizza oven and olive tree. Couples and their photographers are welcome to use the wider grounds and gardens for photos. Ample car parking and coach/bus parking and turning are also available.
