The Moat House possesses over 600 years of history, with traces of occupation dating back to the second century with the discovery of a Roman Villa under and around the village church.
In 1342, John Trussell of Acton settled at the Manor of Acton with his wife and was eventually passed on from the Trussells to the Mayor of Tong.
In more recent years, The Moat House has been considerably altered and restored by the Lewis family who began running the venue in 1955. Following the success of their business, the family decided to expand the venue which continues to thrive today.
