The French Kitchen

Master chef Laurent Courtois and his select team cook up a veritable culinary storm out of their base in West Horrington, in the heart of the rolling Somerset countryside to the south of Bath. Sourcing the highest quality produce from the local area whenever possible, Laurent prepares a finely-crafted fusion of classic French cuisine and rural Somerset ingredients, served with a Gallic flourish!

Quality, taste and a personal touch are much in evidence throughout every stage of The French Kitchen's culinary process. From their responsible and local sourcing of produce, working exclusively with suppliers who practise good husbandry methods, through to intricate and precise cooking procedures so typical of French cuisine, their minute attention to detail is topped off with immaculate presentation in the final dish. When sourcing fish and seafood it will invariably be from fishermen who catch sustainably, and from as close as is geographically possible, guaranteeing freshness and minimising food-miles. The French Kitchen offers menus that change continually to reflect the given season. To view sample menus for weddings and dinner parties please scroll down.

About

Laurent Courtois, The French Kitchen's proprietor and head chef, has brought a truly authentic taste of France to the West Country. Born in the lush and châteaux-adorned Loire Valley in central France, his passion for food was instilled into him from a very young age, with mealtimes traditionally forming an important social part of family life. He began his culinary career in several restaurants in the Loire Valley, before moving to Paris and working at the renowned Méridien Hotel, where he stayed for five years. In 1998 he moved to England, establishing The French Kitchen in the green pastures of Somerset. With over 20 years' experience under his belt, he's never looked back!
