History

The manor rooms surrounding the chapel were originally built in 1450, housing the mayor as he made legal rulings and settled village disputes. The building was then transformed in 1880 into an orphanage and school by local monks.

In 2013 it was officially renamed and restored to its former glory whilst incorporating some modern flair into the design.

Facilities

The Chapel

The Forge chapel is the true hidden gem of Herefordshire. The space is adorned with ornate carvings and is flooded with natural light thanks to its gorgeous stained glass windows. The beautiful vaulted ceiling gives the chapel a light and airy atmosphere and staff encourage you to decorate however you want, allowing a whole day before the service for set-up.

Ceremony capacity - 200 guests

The Courtyard

This lush open space is perfect for enjoying a drinks reception either before or after the ceremony. Adjacent to the chapel, your guests won't have to walk far to enjoy a bit of sunshine and some canapés whilst you slip away to take wedding photos in the hidden orchard.

Drinks reception capacity - 200 guests

Having recently had our wedding at The Forge, I cannot praise it enough. The support and help we received from Mel and Netty was outstanding. The venue is a beauty in itself. I highly recommend to any couples looking for a perfect day.

We held our wedding at The Forge in June 2016.
The venue is a beautiful setting and just what we wanted with a lot of children attending we had use of safe garden so children could run around safely and enjoy bouncy castles and games. The Forge staff were excellent! Always on hand and very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this awesome venue!

I had the pleasure of organising my daughter's wedding at The Forge in October. Nettie was so helpful, thoughtful and caring about not only the detail of the day but so aware of how emotional it was for me. The venue speaks for itself: a wonderful mix of traditional beauty and a sharp edgy annex with something for everyone. If you want a wedding that can cater and care for you, your family and friends then go to The Forge.

My husband and I arranged our wedding in five months and felt so lucky to stumble upon the Forge.
The venue itself is stunning. We loved the chapel and due to Nettie’s exceptional style it required little if no decoration!
We were lucky that even in October we were able to use the garden area, which was a great size for a wedding of over a hundred guests. We had many photographs taken outside in the orchard area which have turned out beautifully.
In the lead up to the wedding, Mel and Nettie were just amazing. Quickly responsive and nothing that we asked was too much.
We would not hesitate in recommending the Forge - we only wish we could do it again!
