History The Arden Hotel itself dates back to the mid-17th Century, however the site on which it stands has an evening deeper historical significance. It was built on the foundations of Brooke House, the house of John Shakespeare, William Shakespeare's father. The playwright himself was reputed to have written some of his works in its gardens, which have been re-created in the Arden Hotel's grounds. Today the hotel is a modern and stylish boutique, having undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment funded by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It has gathered a reputation for excellence, picking up accolades for its services and catering expertise.
