Soul D Light

Having played jazz, funk, and soul for countless weddings and other social and corporate functions right across the Southwest and beyond, this Bristol-based female-fronted party band comes highly recommended. With a versatility that enables her to tailor the day's music to your tastes, the lead vocalist draws on years of experience providing the ideal soundtrack to every wedding.

Whether you simply require background music for your drinks reception, or else a full-on funky powerhouse for the dancefloor during the party celebrations later on in the evening, Emma and Soul D Light can provide anything from a vocal/piano duet to a full nine-piece band with horn section for your big day. About

Originally setting out by singing in church from the age of five, before kick-starting her jazz career at 18 and never looking back, Emma has tried her voice at multiple musical genres from gospel to a capella styles, funk, soul and jazz. A varied career included coaching vocals for theatre productions and workshops, even providing a soundtrack for the Rutger Hauer movie 'Tempesta'.

In more recent years, she has been developing her vocal talents in combination with those of fellow jazz, funk and soul musicians Anders Olinder, Andy Tween and Kit Morgan to form the current four-piece wedding and function group Soul D Light. She is now continuing her performing career, presenting upbeat live music for weddings, a trade she has been perfecting for over ten years.

Performance And Audio

In a typical performance, Soul D Light will play two 45-minute sets. However, should your wedding require continued musical entertainment for the rest of the evening, the band can offer a comprehensive DJ option (with lighting and PA included) for an additional £100 surcharge to keep the dancefloor full all night.

Depending on the size of your venue and the number of guests, you might need either a smaller or a larger band - in this case contact Emma directly. A suitably-tailored format can then be arranged to ensure you have the right band for your wedding.

    Having heard Emma sing at one of her Jazz gigs and thoroughly enjoying the evening we asked if she and her band would play at our wedding in April 2015.

    Emma sings a wide variety of music including jazz, funk, soul and covers. She tailored music to our tastes and to get the party going. Emma and the band put together a playlist of songs of our choice to play between the band sets. They provided lighting and sound system.

    The whole evening went with a swing. I would definitely recommend her to anyone planning a party.
