History Over the years, Ranger's House has been occupied by many different people. First, the house was built by an admiral but, after he sadly died at sea, Ranger's went on to be occupied by royalty! In the mid-18th century, Philip 4th Earl of Chesterfield became one of the most prominent residents of the house. His love of art led him to build the Gallery, in which he displayed many valuable paintings. Now, that Gallery makes an elegant and sophisticated wedding venue.
