First recorded nearly a millennium ago in the Domesday Book (1086), Prested Hall - or at least some semblance of it - can be accounted for from then all the way up until the late 18th century.

The earliest physical aspects of the present structure are dated to somewhere in the 15th century - however, the house's exact purpose and social history around this period remain a mystery.

What can be verified is that from 1890 right up to the current ownership, Prested Hall belonged to the Sherwood family, who used the property as their country getaway and shooting range, a fairly reliable indication of the family's high status at the time.

There are three rooms and a gazebo licensed to host wedding ceremonies, plus a large marquee available during the summer.

The Orangery - up to 150 Guests
The Garden Room - up to 60 Guests
The Oak Room - up to 40 Guests

Gazebo and Marquee - up to 140 Guests

For entertainment and leisure, Prested Hall proudly showcases a luxurious health club, with a variety of spa treatments, besides a 20-metre indoor pool with sauna and steam-room facilities and a court for 'Real Tennis', the historic game as played by Henry VIII!

Catering And Accommodation

Whilst the health club hosts Bistro sessions for light brunch and afternoon tea, an independent chef and catering team come in specifically to prepare and serve wedding cuisine. Sourcing the best local ingredients and then transforming them into delicious seasonal menus, samples of their various meal selections can be requested through their website, subject to seasonal change.

The Hall itself offers 14 luxurious bedrooms and suites to choose from - including a lovely bridal suite. There is also an attic space comprising three interconnecting rooms, perfect for any families staying overnight. With tailor-made Egyptian cotton sheets and a comfortable aesthetic in their style of furnishing, all these rooms afford splendid views over the grounds, ensuring you and your guests enjoy a relaxed and homely atmosphere during your stay.

If you're planning to have a larger party of guests staying, there are a further ten bedrooms located in the Peresteda Apartments, handily situated above the adjoining health spa and pool facility.

My wife and I got married at Prested Hall on NYE and we couldn't speak more highly of the venue and the team. The team kindly put on a hot fork buffet for our guests the night before our wedding which meant we could all mingle and talk before the big day... not to mention tuck into some really lovely food. Rooms are very well appointed with extremely comfortable beds and excellent washroom facilities. Breakfast was fab! One very positive point to note on food is that the guys at Prested were brilliant at catering for my mother-in-law who suffers from coeliac disease. It is rare to find any eatery, be it a hotel or a top end restaurant, that can easily adapt a menu and give absolute confidence but Prested went above and beyond our expectations. Our events manager Jill was absolutely ace. She ran our day with military precision, making sure everyone was where they needed be and that all suppliers were on time.

Prested Hall and its staff provide a phenomenal service. From our initial viewing of the venue to our sumptuous breakfast the morning after the wedding, all our expectations were exceeded. Kathryn was our coordinator and she did an amazing job. Everything was beautifully organised. Kathryn and her staff were calm, reassuring and efficient throughout the whole evening. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The rooms were all unique and steeped in character. The whole venue feels very warm, homely and the perfect location for a family celebration. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough.

We got married at Prested Hall October 2016 and the whole experience was nothing short of perfect. From the outset, Kathryn, our wedding coordinator, was superb - experienced, calming and patient with nothing ever being too much trouble. All the staff at Prested are polite, warm and professional and always friendly. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. The driveway, the ceremony room, the library all provide a beautiful backdrop for pictures and the bridal suite itself is one of the prettiest rooms I have ever stayed in. The food was delicious and again staff were more than happy to change menus to suit a variety of dietary requirements - including sorting out a suitable menu for 10 toddlers! I cannot speak highly enough of our experience at Prested - just brilliant.
