Located near Saltash in Cornwall, Port Eliot is an absolute hidden gem. This Grade I-listed house and its gardens are positively steeped in history, having at one time been an Augustinian monastery and later a home to the aristocracy. Still a working estate today, it is now available for weddings on an exclusive-use basis.

Licensed to hold civil ceremonies, couples may choose to tie the knot in any one of Port Eliot's grand reception rooms. Alternatively, the 13th century St. Germans Priory is just across the way. Port Eliot's very own wedding coordinator will be on hand throughout your planning process to see to every last detail.

With the earliest written reference to Port Eliot dating back to the 5th century, it's impossible to recount this phenomenal estate's entire history in just a small blurb, so we certainly won't attempt to!

Some of the more significant historical facts to note, however, include that the estate was home to an order of Augustinian monks from the year 937, and that the earliest evidence of a house on the site is a tile floor which dates back 1500 years ago to the Iron Age.

Remodelled in the late 18th century by Sir John Soane, the house has been the family seat of the Earl of St Germans for over 500 years.
