The castle was built in the 14th century for Lord Lovell, who wished for a luxurious setting for his extravagant parties. For 250 years, Old Wardour remained an elaborate venue for the gatherings of lords and ladies. However, the castle suffered much damage during the Civil War, leaving the magnificent ruins that still stand today.
You can marry within the castle ruins or, in the 18th century pavilion:
