Built in the mid 1890s exclusively for James Howell, owner of Howells departments store, Grove House was home for the Howell family up until 1913. The property was then bought by the Cardiff Corporation and was renamed Mansion House, housing the Lord Mayor Alderman Morgan Thomas, J.P. The Lord Mayor lived on the ground floor in the private apartment where four luxury en-suites can be found. Since then, these en suites have hosted many significant visitors from around the world.
It was later bought by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff in 1971 and since then, it's been a prestigious venue for events and weddings in Cardiff. The house showcases some significant paintings from the National Museum Wales, which complement the stunning original architecture that was exposed in its 1998 refurbishment.
The Mansion House Cardiff, offers surroundings of history and extravagance and the entire venue for your use. Their stunning gardens and grand suites are there for you to take the most beautiful pictures on your wedding day.
