The lyrics are absolutely gorgeous and totally relatable for those couples who are head over heels for each other.<\/p>\n<p>If your heart doesn\u2019t melt at these lyrics; I\u2019m not sure what will! It\u2019s the perfect speed for a first dance too &#8211; just sway together in a beautiful embrace. Barry Louise Harper- All I want is you<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Yes, this song appears on the same film soundtrack as The Velvet Underground, but it is my second choice for our list of best alternative first dance songs based purely on its beautiful and very appropriate lyrics\u2026 \u2018All I want is you, will you be my bride. It is the most original first dance song that they have performed and he told me,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018Given that the majority of our band comes from a rock\/metal background this was a really fun one for us to do and certainly something a little different. Lyrically it&#8217;s perfectly\u00a0suited\u00a0for a first dance. It sounded great.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Have a listen and imagine it for yourself!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4. Noah and the Whale- Five Years\u2019 Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The perfect combination of summer sounds and a ukulele, Noah and the Whale have the ultimate tune to accompany your first dance together. Ben Howard &#8211; Only Love<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This song is a wonderful alternative to Ed Sheeran. For those Ben Howard fans, you will understand how beautiful this singer\u2019s lyrics and voice really is. He is probably one of the most underrated artists, but that might just be us being biased.<\/p>\n<p>As a personal favourite, this song couldn\u2019t be left out of our list of unusual first dance songs! It\u2019s the perfect melody that enables you to close your eyes and become lost in the moment together.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OWlKZ6C7cDY?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>7. Maccabees \u2013 Toothpaste Kisses<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This indie rock band has produced a fun and loveable song that has some really beautiful lyrics: \u2018Cradle me, I\u2019ll cradle you\u2019. It\u2019s almost as cute as The Velvet Underground.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8SJmWSWQgdM?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>I spoke to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thejunos.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Junos<\/a>, <\/strong>who performed Toothpaste Kisses for a first dance, and rate it as their top alternative tune! \u201cIt was sweet and reflected the couple well\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>8. Bob Marley- Is This Love<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A great choice for the reggae loving couple, Bob Marley is a <em>must <\/em>and this song certainly is different enough to stand out to your guests.<\/p>\n<p>Although it sounds like love is being questioned in this song, it is the exact opposite \u2018I want to love you every day and every night\u2019. Cute.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jGJFINIELik?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>9. The Wannadies- You and Me Song<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Every couple can relate to this song on some level and the lyrics are charming: \u2018You and me \u2013always- and forever.\u2019 Although this song is upbeat, it has a beautiful introduction which is perfect to sway to. It most certainly introduces a fun atmosphere and a great way to invite others on the dancefloor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-VVOA86thkM?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Be careful of the chorus, as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fakeplasticchairs.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Fake Plastic Chairs<\/a> <\/strong>discovered that after performing this as a first dance song, the couple surprisingly sprung apart at the chorus because they hadn\u2019t thought it through.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re going to use this song, we suggest creating a fun dance together to really impress your guests. You\u2019ll certainly have a laugh together doing it.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>10. Muse- The Resistance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Although it\u2019s not the typical love song for a first dance, this song is perfect for couples who have ever had to rebel against someone for their love.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all in the lyrics, \u2018Love is our resistance, they\u2019ll keep us apart and won\u2019t stop breaking us down.\u2019 It\u2019s like sticking your middle finger up at everyone who disapproves of you. The Beatles- And I Love Her<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We are going way back with this song and The Beatles have a number of love songs ideal for weddings but this one is our absolute favourite.<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics in this have to be some of Paul McCartney\u2019s finest work \u2018A love like ours could never die. Proclaimers \u2013 I&#8217;m Gonna Be (500 miles)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Not the highest choice for some, but this is such a fun and enjoyable song especially if you\u2019re a couple wanting to make a statement. You can be really quirky with this and come up with a dance routine to perform in front of your guests.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tbNlMtqrYS0?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>We spoke to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jukebox-band.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jukebox<\/a> <\/strong>who certainly had a lot of fun performing this for a couple\u2019s first dance.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018The bride and groom had a really entertaining dance routine devised, they got their shining moment and everyone was smiling and clapping along with them.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>14. Drake and Rihanna \u2013 Take Care<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For those RnB lovers, this song is a beautiful duet between Drake and Rihanna and really well executed. The heartfelt lyrics can bring a tear to your eye especially when you listen to them on a much deeper level.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-zzP29emgpg?list=RD-zzP29emgpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>15. Lana Del Ray- Young and Beautiful<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This track subtly reflects a life growing old together really well. Lana\u2019s quirky music style makes this track slightly different to your average first dance song.<\/p>\n<p>It is the perfect speed to hold each other in an embrace whilst listening to the lyrics. The Wurzles- Combine Harvester<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All first dance songs have to be about love, right? Actually, no. Electric Light Orchestra- Mr Blue Sky<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is totally out of the ordinary and perfect for couples that just want fun, you cannot help but smile when you hear this tune.
