Wedding Colour Inspiration : Red

Wedding Colour Inspiration : Red

If you’re looking for a colour to complement a winter wedding, why not consider red. As a primary colour, there are many different shades of red you could choose from, from bright scarlet to soft terracotta.

For a Christmas-inspired wedding theme, dark greens create a wonderfully warm effect when placed next to deep reds. If it’s not that time of the year but you still love the idea of a red wedding, why not base your theme around red hearts, love and passion.

Red Flowers and Decorations

Matching flowers you may like to consider for a red theme include Asters, Freesias, Lilies, Tulips and of course Roses. These flowers could be included in your wedding bouquets, centrepieces and buttonholes. For slightly more tasty red decoration, how about hiring a chocolate fountain featuring lots of ripe red strawberries, and as a key focal point of the day, a red wedding cake really is a must.

Red Favours

Giving away red wedding favours will be a great reminder of the day and its colour theme. If you already have favours in mind that aren’t red, how about enclosing them in a red bag or tissue paper tied with a ribbon. For favours that are themselves red, you could give out red candles, red soap, red sweets, red perfume, red jam or even red wine!

Red Attire

Ok, so you probably aren’t too keen on the idea of wearing a red wedding dress, but that’s not to say you can’t incorporate the colour into your appearance. You could include red crystals, embroidery or ribbons on your gown as a subtle nod to the theme, and if this is not possible, simply wearing red jewellery or shoes would do the trick. Rather obviously, bridesmaids could wear cute red dresses, and your groom and groomsmen red waistcoats or cufflinks.

Red Invitations

Make your red wedding theme clear from the very start by creating red wedding invitations – this way your guests may feel inclined to dress the part too!

Whether bold or subtle, a red wedding theme can work wonders!
