Cakes

A beautiful – and delicious – centrepiece on your wedding day, you can get creative with your cake! If you’re planning a rustic barn wedding, a naked or semi-naked cake would really complement the theme.

A masterpiece adorned with flowers would be fabulous for a festival wedding because of the amalgamation of colours and textures.

Catering

If you are planning to set up a real outdoor countryside wedding, then you are going to need a caterer to attend your special day.

You could opt for a traditional English cream tea or finger-food like sandwiches. Alternatively a hog roast, barbecue or even fish and chip van would be an excellent addition to Somerset wedding.

Glastonbury wedding

Garbanzo’s Ice Cream Hire is a Wiltshire-based mobile ice cream tricycle service operating across the South West! Not only is ice cream a sure hit with all guests, but this is also an aesthetically pleasing feature. Plus, what summery outdoor occasion is complete without ice cream?

Flowers

Flowers are synonymous with nature and the countryside. When choosing a florist to represent a countryside theme, it’s important to go for more traditional flowers, those you may associate with an English garden or meadow.

In addition, you could opt for a bouquet that is wild and whimsical, beautifully undone, as if the flowers and foliage has been freshly picked from a garden or hedgerow.

The Walled Garden at Mells, near Frome, is a florist perfect for such a cause. Not only do they use English flowers grown in a 17th century walled garden but they work in harmony with your theme and colour scheme.  Consequently they create a unique arrangement of seasonal blooms.

Dress

Let’s not forget the all-important dress!  You can either opt for a classical, traditional white wedding dress or something that’s a little different.

From balloon sleeve bohemian gowns featuring intricate lace overlay to traditional A-line gowns overflowing with tulle.

  1. Glastonbury is a very unique place to get married. If you are after icecream Jon at the living the cream is great and can highly recommend after he was at an event I organised. While Lucille and Kaiya at Glastonbury weddings are both lovely.

  2. Oh my gosh I adore this article, mainly because I am so completely in love with the idea of a rural country wedding myself – rolling hills on a mild midsummer night, dancing under the stars amongst flowers and trees….I dream of the idyllic rural wedding. Maybe it’s all the movies and tv shows I watch (which admittedly feed off cliches) – but there’s just something so quintessentially English about the rural wedding feel. Not to mention I absolutely ADORE the idea of wooden arhces, curtains of fairy lights and wildflowers strewn over the table…it’s all just so perfect! I used to think for my wedding, that I’d go for a traditional, extravagant, more ‘manicured’ look, but having seen photoshoots and examples of more ‘countryside’ themed weddings, I’ve decided I’d actually like to go for the more relaxed and rural-esque type of wedding. The only problem is I’m not completely sure about the venue. Ideally I’d love somewhere that reflects the country chic feel of barn weddings under the stars, but as it’s England I’m very cautious about going for the whole marquee/barn vibes – simply because of the weather – as I have been to weddings before where the weather has been so dire that people have left much earlier than they normally would have! Because of this I really feel like a hotel wedding is the way to go – but I want to keep it rural ‘oldy worldly’ so to speak. Do you know of any good places in Warwickshire? (This is near where the wedding will be held). I read about somewhere called Nailcote Hall on another site, do you know of any weddings that have been held there? I would absolutely love your advice here because I simply adore your blog x
