Inspired by The Chelsea Flower Show : Seasonal Wedding Flowers

As the vibrant blooms at The Chelsea Flower Show continue to impress, following on from yesterday’s Part One post, Choosing Wedding Flowers, let’s take a look at which flowers are in season, and when.

Choosing local, seasonal flowers is bound to save you a lot of money. Not only that, but as they are used to the climate, seasonal flowers are also less likely to deteriorate or wilt during the day. Out-of-season or exotic flowers will have been either imported or grown in special greenhouses, and will therefore be vastly more expensive.

What are the most popular wedding flowers?

Rose – Traditionally associated with love and passion, and available in a wide range of colours, roses have been a popular choice for countless years.

Lily-of-the-Valley – This beautifully scented flower has long been a symbol of purity and sweetness.

Peony – This flower’s full, rounded bloom historically represents romance and luck.

Don’t worry if you can’t remember all of this – simply ask a reputable florist for advice. As soon as you tell them your prospective date, they should be able to offer reliable advice over seasonal flowers to suit your wedding theme and colour scheme, as well as your budget.
