History
The house which stands today was built in 1788 by well celebrated architect Sir John Sloane, known for designing the dining room in number 10 Downing Street. The interior retains many of its original features today, including the fireplaces and main staircase.
The manor of Wokefield was owned by the Windsor's until it was given to King Henry VIII by Andrew Lord Windsor in exchange for monastic lands. The house has been used for many things, including a school for boys in 1936.
