History Previously known as Barclay House, Commonwood Manor was originally built in 1890 by an Italian musician and merchant, who wished to take advantage of the spectacular views of the valley afforded by the site. Appropriately designed in an Italianate style, the house was one of the first buildings of its type to be constructed in concrete, as the creator didn't want the place to go on fire!

Reviews Colin and Dianne Hartrey We recently had our wedding at Commonwood Manor and would like to say a big thank you to Louise, Simon, James and all the staff for all their hard work behind the scenes. From the ceremony to the afternoon tea and through to the evening BBQ and disco, everything was truly amazing. The florist, DJ and photographer were all chosen by Louise with a little direction from us and were absolutely perfect. Even the weather played ball, the rain stopped in time for the ceremony to take place outside and the sun shone as we exchanged our vows. The hotel and grounds are beautiful with stunning views of the river. The food was fantastic and all our guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Simon and Louise were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much for them, even going the extra mile to drive some of our family to the train station the next morning. Words cannot express how amazing our day was and we are already planning to go back and stay for our anniversary next year.
