Bisham Abbey dates back to the 13th century and was formally one of King Henry VIII's homes. It's positioned beautifully beside the River Thames, in Bisham near Marlow in Buckinghamshire. Surrounded by gorgeous views and countryside, there is a choice of two incredible rooms licenced to host a civil ceremonies.

The team at Bisham Abbey have put together two fantastic packages or will create a bespoke package tailored to you. Their in-house caterers create exquisite dishes fit for royalty and with 50 beautiful en-suite rooms on site, your guests can enjoy a night here.

History

Bisham Abbey is steeped in history. The gorgeous manor house is Grade I-listed and was built around 1260 for the Knights Templar (a powerful order of knights). The building was used as a place of confinement for Queen Mary of Scots throughout the wars of Scottish succession. In 1540 it was owned by King Henry VIII who left the house to Anne of Cleves as settlement of their divorce.

Facilities

With royal décor reflecting throughout the abbey, each room holds elegance and beauty. There are two rooms licenced to host your ceremony and a further room that would be perfect for your wedding reception. Should you require more guests, their grounds make the perfect setting for a marquee.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is a gorgeous room that offers a royal and romantic setting. The stained glass window brings colour, whilst the oak-panelled walls add a touch of elegance. The room is surrounded by paintings of figures of importance and a 400-year-old fireplace stands proudly and the bottom of a 100-foot vaulted ceiling. It is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and is the perfect setting for a wedding breakfast dinner.

The Warwick Room

Imagine walking down a 14-metre aisle, with dark oak panelled walls surrounding the room from ceiling to floor. The Warwick Room is the perfect setting to exchange vows. The room dates back to 1680 and holds its original stone fireplace, which is both romantic and welcoming. With views across the grounds, you wouldn't want to say 'I do' anywhere else.

Wedding breakfast capacity - 60 guests

Margaret Dickinson Lounge

Many couples use this room for their evening reception as its ample space and high archways make it a perfect place to dance. There is access to an adjacent room and an outdoor patio holding views across the grounds and the river. The room reflects the décor of the rest of the Abbey, with large chandeliers and beautiful stone arches.

Catering

The team at Bisham Abbey create exquisite dishes of the finest quality. They have created a fine selection of menus to choose from including a three course menu with petit fours and an evening buffet selection.

Accommodation

There are 50 luxury rooms for your guests to retire to, beautifully decorated with all the modern amenities, you can relax in the knowledge that your guests will sleep well.

There is a charming bridal suite available for the happy couple. The Cleeves Room is named after King VIII's former wife, who owned the manor after their divorce, and holds a stunning oak four-poster bed and a luxury double shower.
