Why you should have your wedding in Bristol

The gem of the South West, Bristol is a captivating and varied city, perfect for romantic wedding celebrations. The city centre boasts an incredible amount of stunning areas, which both hark back to the fascinating history of the city and engage in the culture of modern day Britain.

From the Medieval roots which are still present through the form of intricate street patterns and hidden alleys in the city centre, to the historic waterfront which was once the heart of Britain’s trade empire, to the stunning Georgian architecture of upmarket Clifton village, history lovers are guaranteed that Bristol will never cease to delight. There are many historical wedding venues dotted around the city, all basking in the intertwining storylines that have made Bristol the city it is today.

But the South West’s largest city isn’t just historical; it has a fast moving, energetic vibe, constantly evolving and refreshing. It’s a great place for young people and it’s a well-known fact that many who move to Bristol find it near impossible to leave! This makes Bristol the ideal location for a contemporary and quirky wedding. With the thriving arts and music scenes and the city-wide environmental awareness – Bristol was voted ‘Green Capital of Europe’ in 2015 – you can be sure to find an array of fresh and modern wedding venues in the city.

Bristol is perfectly placed; just two hours from London, at the interchange of the rural counties Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire which all showcase some of the nation’s best countryside, and a short drive over the Severn Bridge from Wales. Bristol is indeed a cosmopolitan gateway to explore the charismatic and stunning area of the South West, and it’s no surprise that more and more people are planning on celebrating their weddings in the city; 1537 weddings took place in the city in the last statistical year.
