History

In the Domesday Book of 1086, Froyle Park is recorded to have been a royal estate during the reign of Edward the Confessor. William the Conqueror later offered the manor to the nuns of St Mary’s Abbey. The current manor house was built in 1620, on a site of an old monastery that had been dissolved in Henry VIII's Reformation. It has maintained the ambience of a grand manor estate, with stunning architecture typical of its period and antique furnishings representing the four centuries since its construction.
