History

Cleeve Abbey was originally known as Flowering Valley. Founded by Cistercian monks eight hundred years ago, this is a truly historic setting for your wedding. You and your guests will walk in the footsteps of these monks, who once lived and worked within the abbey's impressive stone walls.

The Facilities

Ceremonies held at Cleeve Abbey can take place either during the morning or the afternoon. The following four spaces are available for your ceremony and drinks reception. There are also three smaller rooms for more intimate ceremonies of 50 guests.

The Refectory Hall

This magnificent hall is perfect for simple and elegant wedding ceremonies. When looking up, you'll see an amazing carved wooden roof, complete with intricate wooden angels who will oversee your ceremony. This part of the abbey was once used as the monks' dining room!

The Dormitory

You can marry or enjoy reception drinks in the dormitory where monks would once have slept. The stone walls are lined with narrow, historic windows and a beautiful wood beamed roof sits above you.

After a ceremony here, the Warming Room below makes the perfect place for reception drinks, particularly if you're unfortunate enough to have rain on your big day, as you and your guests need not venture outside!
